Correct Way To Eat These 10 Food Items

Diet is a very important part of our lives and we need to be pretty cautious about what we eat as our health depends a lot on our diet. However, there is one more thing which we should focus on and that is the correct method to consume some food items.

Check out how these 10 food items should be consumed:

1. Broccoli:

Broccoli is a rich source of antioxidants, chlorophyll, anti-cancer compounds and Vitamin C but all these nutrients are lost if broccoli is fried or boiled. It should be eaten raw or after steaming it.

2. Cucumbers:

Cucumbers should be eaten with their skin on as it provides a good amount of fiber but it is better to peel it off if there is a chance of consuming pesticides.

3. Garlic:

Garlic has an antitumor enzyme which is known as allicin. Garlic should be chopped and left to rest for at least 10 minutes in open because the enzyme gets more powerful if it is exposed to air.

4. Flax seeds:

Flax seeds are rich source of lignans, phytonutrients, fiber and omega-3 but they should not be eaten whole as it is difficult for the body to digest them in this manner. To get the maximum benefit, flax seeds should be eaten only after crushing them.

5. Strawberries:

Just like other red fruits, strawberries are also rich source of vitamin C, fiber and antioxidants but it should not be stored after cutting. Strawberries lose their nutrients once they are exposed to air as they are very sensitive towards light and oxygen.

6. Yogurt:

Yogurt should be mixed well before eating and the watery substance which is called whey should not be thrown away as it is a good source of vitamin B12 and protein.

7. Tomatoes:

We may have seen people eating raw tomatoes but the correct way to eat a tomato is consuming it after cooking. Tomato should be heated up to 194 degree Fahrenheit as it increases the strength of nutrients like lycopene which plays an important role in fighting against heart disease and tumors.

8. Kiwi:

Kiwi should be eaten with its skin on because it is a rich source of fiber, vitamin E and folate. It has been found that the value of fiber, vitamin E and folate contents in the body increases by 50%, 32% and 34% respectively.

9. Asparagus:

Cooking asparagus in microwave is a big NO as the vegetable loses vitamin C in this way. Asparagus should be either steamed or fried as it will make it tender and crispy.

10. Tea:

Tea has been one of the most favourite drinks of Indians but people should prefer black tea and mixing milk in it should be avoided. The reason behind it is that the cardiovascular benefits of the tea are blocked by the dairy products.
