Sunil Gavaskar Calls Selection Committee “Lame Ducks” & You May Agree With Him After Knowing Reason

The Indian team is busy preparing for the West Indies tour but there is one former Indian cricketer who has openly lambasted the selection committee and called the committee members lame ducks.

Nobody can afford to take this former cricketer lightly as he is none other than the legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar and we feel that you will also agree with him after knowing what he has said.

The Little Master got quite ruthless as he called the selection committee headed by MSK Prasad lame ducks and slammed the members for bypassing the procedure of selecting the captain of the team.

In a column that he wrote for a news daily, he mentioned that before selecting the team for the West Indies tour, a meeting has to be called for selecting the captain but it didn’t happen. After the reappointment, the captain should have been invited for discussing the players for the tour.

Sunil Gavaskar also said that Virat was appointed the captain till the World Cup only and his reappointment for the West Indies tour gives an impression that other players such as Kedhar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, etc. can be dropped for not performing well but the skipper continues despite the fact that the team did not even reach the finals.

He goes on to say that it is the last selection done by this committee and hopefully the next committee will have a stature and they won’t get bullied and rather will have the guts to tell the team management that they have to play with the players whom they select.

Sunil Gavaskar is the first batsman in the test cricket to reach the mark of 10,000 runs. What’s more, he is one of the greatest batsmen of the world cricket that we have ever seen.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Mega Cricket Event – World Test Championship

The increasing popularity of T20 format of cricket has affected the popularity of test matches to a great extent. However, it is being said that test cricket is the true form of cricket and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is starting the World Test Championship in order to bring back the glory of test cricket.

The idea of World Test Championship originated in the year 2013 when the Council thought of scrapping Champions Trophy and starting the test championship. But then it was postponed till 2017 and then it was further shifted to 2019-2021.

The top nine teams as per the ICC test rankings will be participating in this championship and the teams are – India, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh. The teams of Afghanistan and Ireland will not participate in the championship; however, they will get to play test matches against other countries.

All the nine teams will play against six teams, three series in home while three abroad. Each bilateral series will be of 120 points and the test matches will vary from 2 to 5. So if the test series is of 2 matches, each match will be of 60 points and if the test series is of 5 matches, each match will be of 24 points. While a draw will fetch one-third points of a win, a tie will give the teams half of the points of a win.

27 bilateral series will take place in 2 yrs and in total, 72 test matches including the final test match will be played. The final will be played at Lords in 2021 between those two teams that will have the maximum points. If the final ends in a tie or draw, the team with maximum points will be declared winner.

Here is the number of test matches that each team will play in these 2 yrs:

England: 22

Australia: 19

India: 18

South Africa: 16

West Indies: 15

New Zealand: 14

Bangladesh: 14

Pakistan: 13

Sri Lanka: 13

Javed Akhtar & Shekhar Kapur Spark Debate On Refugee. Twitter Is Divided On The Matter

The war of letters has started recently with 49 intellectuals writing to PM Modi for stopping the mob lynching incidents. Not only this, they also wrote that the religious phrase “Jai Shri Ram” has become a war cry. In reaction, another group of 61 eminent personalities wrote an open letter and slammed these 49 people for selective outrage.

However, the micro-blogging site Twitter also felt the heat and Bollywood filmmaker Shekhar Kapur decided to express his views after 49 personalities wrote the letter.

Shekhar Kapur said that he started his life as a refugee after partition. He also stated that his parents gave him everything to make his life but he always lived in the fear of intellectuals. First they made him feel small but embraced him after his movies. He still fears them as their embrace is like a snake bite and even now he feels like a refugee.

This is what Shekhar Kapur wrote on Twitter, “Started life as refugee of Partition. Parents gave everything to make a life for kids. Was always in fear of ‘intellectuals’. They made me feel insignificant. Small. Then suddenly embraced me after my films. I still fear them. Their embrace is like a bite of snake. Still a refugee.”

Another Bollywood celeb, lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar slammed Shekhar Kapur in a series of tweets for calling himself a refugee and asked him to cut this melodrama. He also asked him as to where else he will not feel like a refugee if he thinks of himself as an outsider and refugee in India.

Javed Akhtar wrote, “What do you mean by still a refugee? Does it mean that you feel like an outsider n not an Indian n you don’t feel that this is your motherland? If in India you are still a refugee, where will you not feel like a refugee, in Pakistan? Cut this melodrama you poor rich but lonely guy”.

Javed also asked him as to who those intellectuals are who embrace him and he found their embrace as snake bite. He also advised Kapur to see a psychiatrist.

His second tweet read, “Who are these intellectuals who embraced you and you found that embrace like a snake’s bite ? Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopal Krishna, Ram Chandra Guha? Really? Shekhar saheb you are not well. You need help. Come on, there is no shame in meeting a good psychiatrist.”

In the third tweet, Javed talked about the contradiction in Shekhar’s statement.

He wrote, “You introduce yourself as neither prejudiced by the past nor afraid of the future living in this moment and in the same breath you say you are a refugee of partition and still a refugee. One doesn’t need a magnifying glass to see the contradiction.”

Shekhar Kapur responded on one of the tweets of Akhtar but he didn’t choose to explain what he meant. Kapur tweeted, “No. It means once you are a refugee, you feel a gypsy.”

Now, Twitterati is divided into two parts as some are slamming Shekhar Kapur for targeting those who are raising their voices against the injustice taking place while some slammed Javed Akhtar for not letting Shekhar Kapur express his opinion and trying to make him prove him wrong.

Indian Family Was Caught Stealing From A Hotel In Bali, People Are Furious With Them

This often happens, and it is not a joke, people from India, which is us shamefully tend to steal. From mugs of steels from toilets to fancy things provided by high-end hotels. This is a tendency that Desi’s can’t get over with. What we do is the image of our country; how we behave is a presumption of our people. But the staff keeps saying that this is an utter act of disrespect.
