International Cricket Council (ICC) the global governing body of cricket on Thursday took the decision to suspend the entire cricket team of Zimbabwe with immediate effects. The decision was taken during the annual conference of ICC in London.

The International Cricket Council released a statement on Thursday stating that every member has failed to prevent government intervention in the administration of sport in the country.

ICC Board unanimously decided that the Full Member had failed to fulfil their obligation to provide a process for free and democratic elections and to ensure that there is no government interference in its administration for cricket.

Zimbabwe Cricket team will no longer receive the funding from ICC and they won’t be even allowed to participate in the events hosted by ICC. Following the suspension of the cricket board participation of Zimbabwe in the T20 Men’s World Cup starting from October 2019 is in doubt.

ICC chairman Shashank Manohar said, we do not take the decision to suspend a Member lightly, but we must keep our sport free from political interference.

Shashank Manohar further added, what has happened in Zimbabwe is a serious breach of the ICC Constitution and we cannot allow it to continue unchecked. The ICC wants cricket to continue in Zimbabwe in accordance with the ICC Constitution.

Earlier the Croatia Cricket Federation and the Zambia Cricket Union were also suspended for non- acquiescence with ICC Membership criteria.

The rumors of former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni’s retirements have been making rounds since a long time now. Fans were making predictions that Dhoni will retire after holding the World Cup trophy this year. But that could be possible as India lost the semi-final match against New Zealand.

Later BCCI announced next series for Indian cricket team which will be against West Indies. The selection committee will meet on July 19 to announce the team. Meanwhile, former experts broke their silence on Dhoni’s retirement.

During a panel discussion, Sehwag said, “It should be left to MS Dhoni to decide when to hang his boots. The duty of the selectors is to reach out to Dhoni and inform him that he is no more being seen as India’s wicket-keeper batsman going forward. I wish the selectors had asked me as well about my plans so I would also have been able to inform them.”

Sandeep Patil who was also on the panel, said, “The responsibility to talk to Sachin about his future was given to me and Rajinder Singh Hans while the same responsibility was given to Vikram Rathore for Sehwag. We had asked him and he said he had spoken with Sehwag. But if Sehwag is saying that Vikram did not talk to him, I would like to take responsibility for the same.”

In reply to Patil’s statement, Sehwag said, “Vikram Rathore spoke to me after I was dropped. It would have made sense if he spoke to me before that. There’s no point talking to a cricketer once he is dropped. If MSK Prasad speaks to Dhoni after he is dropped, what would Dhoni say – that he would play first-class cricket and the selectors should pick him if he scores run. The point is that the selectors should reach out to cricketers before they are dropped.”

Hema Malini, the veteran actress turned politician, was trolled by many for her act of sweeping and surprisingly, one of the trollers was her husband and Bollywood actor Dharmendra. Hema Malini was taking part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and with some other BJP members, she participated in the campaign which was carried outside the Parliament premises.

The netizens trolled her because she was moving the broom in air rather than cleaning the floor with it. In fact, it was quite clear that either she didn’t know how to use a broom or she was just pretending to do it and not actually doing from the heart.

When Dharmendra was asked whether his wife has ever used a broom before the campaign, he replied, “Haan films main , mujhe bhi अनाड़ी लग रहीं  थीं . मैं ने मगर बचपन में , अपनी माँ का हमेशा हाथ बटाया है । मैं झाड़ू में माहिर था । I love cleanliness”

It loosely translates to, “Yes in films, I also found her untrained. But I have helped my mother in household chores when I was a child. I was expert in sweeping. I love cleanliness.”
