PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi & Bollywood Celebs Showed Their Support To Team India Despite Their Loss

India’s hopes of winning the cricket World Cup 2019 ended yesterday as the Indian team was defeated by New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament. Indians were among the favourites to win the tournament and it won’t be incorrect to say that they played like champions, winning all their league matches except the match against England.

The target given by the New Zealand team was 240 which was not a difficult one for team India considering the fact that they have some world-class batsmen who can chase far bigger targets than this in a comfortable manner. However, the Indian innings started badly and the first three top-order batsmen, i.e., Rohit Sharma, K L Rahul and Virat Kohli, departed when the score was just 5. Dinesh Karthik also departed soon and although Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant tried to turn the tables, they also failed.

However, two Indian batsmen who indeed need to be praised for their efforts are M S Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. They tried their best to win the match for the country but it seems that it was a bad day for India and NZ seized the match by defeating the Indian team by 18 runs.

Social media was obviously flooded with reactions over this; while few were busy criticising the Indian players, there were many who were supporting team India despite their loss in the match. #IStandWithTeamIndia started trending on the micro-blogging site Twitter as fans made tweets, showing their support towards the Indian cricketers and hailing them as champions.

Not just common public but Bollywood celebrities and politicians including the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also praised efforts of the Indian team and cheered them up after the heart-wrenching loss.

Petition Filed Against Pakistani Cricket Players For Smoking Sheesha Before Ind-Pak Match

Pakistani cricket team did not make it to even semi-finals after facing several defeats by various teams. But after losing a match to its arch-rival India, the team was publically criticized and humiliated on social media. Now that the players are back on their homeland, the country is not ready to spare them for their misdeed before the clash.

A video went viral of the Pakistani players smoking sheesha and eating junk food before the match against India. A Pakistani advocate Abdul Jalil Marwat has filed a petition against Pakistan cricketers including Shoaib Malik, Imam-ul-Haq, Wahab Riaz and the captain Sarfaraz Ahmed for consuming junk food and smoking sheesha just before the big game.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Shoiab have cleared the air saying the video was not shot on 15th June night, but it was old. Abdul said that the players’ smoking sheesha was the main reason for their disappointing performance against India.

“In this important match, senior player Shoaib Malik scored zero runs, Imam-ul-Haq scored seven runs and Wahab Riaz took only one wicket,” the petition reads.

Pakistan Union minister also took a jibe at their national team. Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari, said, “When sheesha smoking is indulged in hours before the match what can one expect but humiliation.”

However, Malik clarifying things, tweeted, “The videos are from 13th June and not 15th.”

India Vs New Zealand: Was MS Dhoni’s Wicket An Umpiring Error? Twitterians Are Boiling

India is officially out of the world cup after losing the match to New Zealand. Despite great efforts and good game Indian team failed to chase the score put up by New Zealand in its first inning. Starting of the Indian inning was very slow and disappointing. New Zealand took three Indian wickets back to back which left fans saddened.

MS Dhoni’s arrival after 6th wicket on the pitch raised Indian’s hope. Dhoni is the face of assurance and fans believe that he can even win a lost match. But his wicket in 48th over was the most heartbreaking moment for all the Indians.

Dhoni was run out by Martin Guptill after L Ferguson’s delivery. Though it was fair wicket, a video is going viral from the last game showing an umpiring error.

According to the video, the game was in its 3rd powerplay and only 5 fielders are allowed outside of the 30-yard circle. But the video showed six fielders near the boundary line. That means the ball which took Dhoni’s wicket was a no-ball.

Now fans are raising questions if the silly error by umpire has cost us out dream? It is something to think about that if umpire would have seen properly it might have turned into our favor or at least it would have been a fair game. Angry twitterians are bashing ICC and its umpires.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson confessed that Doni’s wicket was their biggest achievement of the game. After the match, he said, “We all know the game is a fine line in a number of ways. But that run-out was significant. We have seen Dhoni finish games from those similar positions on a number of occasions.”

“It was a tough surface so nothing promised but naturally to dismiss Dhoni in whatever fashion is extremely important, but for a direct hit run-out very similar to Jadeja’s I think was a big moment in the game.”
