In utterly bizarre news, cops at a police station in Uttar Pradesh have accused rats of finishing of at least 1000 litres of seized alcohol which was being stored at a police warehouse.
The head clerk of the station had gone over to inspect the warehouse, when he came across numerous empty alcohol bottles and several rats were apparently present at the scene.
The liquor in the bottles had been seized or confiscated by the police in various raids that had been conducted. This had been collected and stored for almost a decade.
Apparently, according to norms, the alcohol that is collected during such raids is to be destroyed, keeping only a small portion aside for legal reference.
However, this rule has been ignored. Police officers had even brought the matter to the attention of the superiors but it had been dismissed.
Now, an investigation has had to be launched into the matter. In fact, this is not the first time rats have been accused of finishing off such seized alcohol.
Ah, well. Who knew rats liked alcohol?

Simmba did really well on the first Saturday after its release, and this was expected. People simply love the film, and there is no doubt about that.
Across India, the film has opened to almost 4000 screens, and almost 80 to 90 per cent occupancy in most of them. Ranveer Singh has clearly worked his magic in the film.
On the second day, that is Saturday, the film did even better than Day 1 and earned approximately 23 crores to 24 crores all over India.
The fact that the film has received really good reviews from around the country, along with word of mouth publicity may have something to do with that.
This is also one of Ranveer’s best performances, and his chemistry with Sara makes the film a must watch. Rohit Shetty really shines as a director in the film.
Of course, the weekend is not over and one can never really tell with holiday weekends. The tables could turn at any moment. However, we hope it continues to sail through.

The police in Noida had prevented Muslims in a public park in Sector 58 from offering Namaz on Friday. This had created a major uproar.
However, private firms in Sector 58 have taken the step forward and have opened up their spaces in order to allow their Muslim employees to offer Namaz.
A majority of Muslim workers in sector 58, who had been denied access in a public park, had to head towards a similar park in sector 54 in order to offer Namaz.
However, thanks to these three private firms, many employees were able to offer Namaz in their office premises. These firms have clearly been setting an example.
One of the companies was a hosiery company and the owner said that this was nothing unusual for them as he had been doing so for the past 12 years. Employees have apparently been offered this space for more than a decade at his organization.
This is in response to a notification issued by the Noida police which claimed that companies would be held responsible if their employees were found offering Namaz in the sector 58 park.
We applaud the progressive move by the three companies.

Narendra Modi who became the Prime Minister in 2014 is also probably the only PM to have made the maximum number of foreign trips ever since his term started.
According to reports, he has visited over 55 countries and has made over 48 foreign foreign trips since the year 2014. This has cost the Indian Government approximately 2021 crores.
Hotline facilities, chartered planes and maintenance charges are included in the whopping amount which has come to light only recently.
When questioned about this, the Ministry of External Affairs responded that the trips made by Modi were definitely not in waste since it helped India’s economy.
Apparently, the trips that Modi has made in the past four years have been to countries which have helped improve the FDI or Foreign Direct Investments.
Foreign Direct Investments have grown from 30,930.5 million dollars to 43478.27 million dollars between 2014 and 2017. This data was provided by the Ministry.
Even then, we ask you, is it justified to utilize taxpayers’ money in sending the PM on luxurious foreign trips where over thousands are spent in lifestyle and maintenance?
