10 Important Mental Aspects Of Parenting

8:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Parenting. So much has been said, so much has been written about this ungrateful job. All those videos, all those blogs they teach you the much-needed basics you must learn but what about the mental aspects of it? Aspects that most parents ignore.

What you share with your child is a bond no other relation can emulate. You stay with them in their building years, you guide them, but do you do it the right way? Here are some thoughts for introspection.

1) Do you ever think why your child is hiding something from you? Why is he/she not telling the truth? May be he has done something wrong, even very wrong. But don’t you think as parents you should have had an environment in which he/she is comfortable even telling you his/her worst mistakes?

2) Do you feel like your child is under a burden of following his/her dream? May be he/she has seen you satisfied with the kind of life you are living. Don’t you feel it is your duty to tell your child that no matter what happens you are there for him/her? That you back them? You might say you are there for them but have you ever told them this?

3) Do you allow your kids to think? Do you teach them how to make a decision? Or just tell them whether it is a good thing or a bad thing? Allowing the kids to think develops their mind. It makes them mature. It prepares them for the big decisions they will be making in the future.

4) Do you teach them how to stand up for themselves? Do you instill in them a belief that they should not allow anyone to bully them? That they should fight their own battles?

5) Does your kid have that much freedom that he can come up to you and tell you that he is suffering from depression? That he wants a break from his stressful life and spend some quality time with the ones he love.

6) Are you open enough to your kid that he/she is able to discuss about his/her relationships with you? Guidance towards these things is necessary in such a ripe age.

7) Do you spend some real quality time with them? Discuss with them how their life is going? Instead of working those extra hours in the office are you willing to spend time with them?

8) Do you share with your kids your life experiences? Your life learning? Your incidents have a major impact on your child.

9) Will you know if your child is having suicidal thoughts? India has the highest number of suicide rate among students. Will you be able to figure out those slight changes in your child’s behavior?

10) Will he/she remember you? Will they talk about you to their kids? Will you be able to make them a better future parent?

These are some really important questions that you must ask yourself now or in the future when you become a parent because parents play a huge role in not only physical but also the mental development of a child.

While providing our children with comforting environments we forget that we have to make them not only a successful person but also a better human being.

The Reason Behind Every Month’s Name

8:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Our calendars are segmented into 12 parts. Each segment holds different relevance to us. We all celebrate months that holds something significant for us. Like a birthday or an anniversary or our first job offer or what not?

Dates and months are indeed special but have you ever wondered why they are called what they are called? There must be some logic behind naming these months, they just can’t be random.

So here is the list of all the months with the meanings behind their names explained. Check out the meaning of your favorite month.

1) January.

The month of January is named after Janus, a Roman God. Janus was believed to have 2 faces, the one which he used to see the future and the other one to see the past.

Indeed a fascinating god. He was also referred to by the God of Doors.

2) February.

Named after Roman God Februalia, the month of February holds a very special significance. The moth is believed to be the month of purification.

In this month’s sacrifices were made to atone for sins.

3) March.

It is a month named after Mars, the Roman god of war. This month was the very first in the Roman calendar but January and February were added later.

Being the very first month originated, March is of special significance.

4) April.

The month’s name is derived from a Latin word called “Aperire”. The meaning of the word is “to open”. It depicts the beautiful flowers opening and spreading happiness in the month of spring.

5) May.

May is named after Greek goddess Maia. Maia is believed to be the goddess for growing of plants. May is a beautiful month marked by a beautiful name.

6) June.

June is a month in which so many weddings happens and unsurprisingly it is named after the Roman goddess Juno– the goddess of marriage and birth.

She also is the wife of Jupiter, who is also called as king of gods.

7) July.

Named after one of the most influencing figures of ancient roman world named Julius Caesar, the month of July had a different name earlier.

Earlier it was called Quintilis which is Latin for Fifth.

8) August.

Another month named after one of the figures from ancient Roman world, August gets its name from Augustus Caesar in 8 B.C.

Just like July it earlier had a different name. Sextilia meaning six in Latin.

9) September.

September is derived from septem, which is the Latin for number seven.

10) October.

Just like September, October initially being the eighth month derives its name from Octo which is eight in Latin.

11) November.

Following the trends of the previous two months, November was also named before the addition of January and February and thus was considered the 9th month of the year and was named from the word novem which in Latin means Nine.

12) December.

The name of this month also is from a Latin word, decem, which means ten in English.

10 Things Sourav Ganguly Needs To Do As BCCI President

8:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Sourav Ganguly, the Dada of Indian cricket and the recently elected president of BCCI, is a man known for making tough decisions.

While captaining India, he instilled in his team a belief that they can win outside Asia, he backed youngsters and made them big match players.

Now as BCCI president, we all expect Dada to make a revolution, to make us witness again, the awesomeness of Dadagiri. Here are some things that we all expect from Dada to do as the president of the world’s most powerful cricketing board:

1) Build a structure that is absolutely fixing free.

Fixing is taken down hard by almost every cricket board in the world, Sourav Ganguly must ensure to build a structure that eliminates this thing completely. The issue should be eliminated at grass root level.

2) Have more seam friendly wickets in domestic matches.

Team India at current is having an amazing pool of fast bowlers that are winning India the matches at home and away. To ensure the trend continues India must have more seam friendly wickets at domestic levels.

3) To give central contracts to all test players.

Players like Pujara, Ishant, Mayank, Ashwin and more who are test specialist should be given a central contract to mark their importance to team India. Players should be motivated that playing test cricket only is also a great and proud achievement.

4) To have a definite selection criteria for the team.

At current there is no pattern as to how players are selected and dropped from the team. There have been various head scratching selections. Dada must ensure to have a better selecting committee.

5) To encourage players to have county stints.

Playing county cricket in England has reaped huge benefits for so many players, the recent example being Ishant and Pujara. Sourav must ensure that players go to England to have at least one county stint, even if they have to miss the IPL for a year.

6) Have a better social media handle for BCCI.

Cricketing boards of Australia and England have much better social media handles. They keep on posting engaging stuff, which fans enjoy. Being president, Dada should get better people to handle the accounts and allow better content to be posted.

7) Restore the balance back in the game.

The game has been growing a lot more batsman friendly, especially in the last decade or so. Being at the helm of such great power, dada should ensure to bring in some rules that helps restore the balance in our game.

8) Have better commentators and not just ex-players.

Leaving Harsha Bhogle, India is at the loss of world class commentators. The quality of commentators coming through is just very bad. Dada should allow a system to exist which encourages people not only to play but also to commentate on the game.

9) To allow players to play in other domestic leagues.

BCCI has this policy because of which they do not allow any Indian player to take part in an outside league. Taking part in such leagues results in overall development of a player and Ganguly should definitely remove this policy.

10) Ensuring a fix income for domestic level players.

Ours is a cricketing nation. With such a huge pool of talent, many deserving players are bound to miss out. So to ensure that they can generate a living playing cricket, BCCI can take many steps to give them financial stability.

Five Reasons You Should Watch Yeh Saali Aashiqui

3:28 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

“Yeh Saali Aashiqui”, a romantic thriller starring Vardhan Puri and Shivaleeka Oberoi has hit the silver screens today. While the trailer of the film sent chills down the spine, the thriller encapsulates a story very hard to predict.

Produced by Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen) & Amrish Puri Films, directed by Cherag Ruparel, ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’ is a film that hits the right spots and captures the perfect emotions.

Here are 5 reasons why you must not miss out on this watchful adventure.

1) A Romantic Thriller

Yeh Saali Aashiqui is a perfect blend of romance and thrill which we have not seen on the big screen for a while. The content is very interesting and we are sure it will not disappoint you.

2) Unexpected Twists and Turns

The trailer has managed to intrigue audiences and has left people asking for more. It has piqued interests and judging by the trailer we can easily say that the film has a lot of unexpected twists that are bound to take you by surprise. So brace yourselves for the exciting thriller.

3) Debutant actors and director

The reason why everything seems so fresh about this film is the two debut actors Vardhan Puri and Shivaleeka Oberoi. The film also marks director Cherag Ruparel’s debut. Though it has a bunch of debutants, the film is exceedingly evolved and the efforts taken have translated in the trailer itself.

4) Hard-Hitting Dialogues and nerve-wracking screenplay

Hard-hitting dialogues and nerve-wracking screenplay are the silver lining, they add more weight to the storyline and narration. They act as the last piece of a puzzle which completes the thrilling experience.

5) Music

The music of the film has been loved by all. “Hawaa Banke” by Armaan Malik has become the new love anthem with praises coming from all corners. The song has a fresh feel to it and the chemistry between Vardhan and Shivaleeka will want you to fall in love. While ‘Hawaa Banke’ is a love song, ‘Sanki’ is totally opposite of it, showcases the twisted side of love and obsession and makes you wonder – how well do you really know the person you love?

After a long time, we have a complete album that has songs from different genres. Bewakoofi sung by Armaan Malik is a very interesting take on breakup and has a very good feel to it. The Sanki rap song has a lot of angst as high energy which has taken youth by the craze.

Yeh Saali Aashiqui is high on content and leaves audiences spellbound with a jolting message in the end. This is a kind of film that just stays with you, one that you will remember for a long time. So book your tickets and get ready to experience something very different and amazing, releasing today.

Five Most Trolled Celebrities In India

1:22 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

A celebrity always attracts with him a huge fan following. With so many followers there will always be people who will hate you or saying in a more real tone won’t resonate with your thoughts.

There is bound to be difference of opinions, likings and disliking and a lot of trolling. This is a trend everywhere in the world and so in India.

While some celebrities are just trolls, others are roasted. Here is a list of five of the most trolled celebrities in India.

1) Salman Khan.

Salman Khan a.k.a. Bhai of Bollywood has been in the news and on people’s tweets for too many reasons. He has faced controversy regarding relationship with various actresses, killing black buck, allegations of driving over people on footpath and what not.

The web is filled with trolls of Salman Khan Doing round every other day. Whatever he does attract huge love, hatred and trolls.

2) Akshay Kumar.

One of the most hardworking actors of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar is also a regular among Indian trolls. Whether it is about doing huge number of movies in a single year or about his Canadian citizenship, Akshay is trolled widely.

His various cuts in Phir Hera Pheri are used in making memes, sometimes against him. His choice of films like Mission Mangal, Padman also attract many trolls.

3) Sanjay Manjrekar.

This is a guy who deserves to be trolled. People learn from their mistakes and become mature and start understanding things better but Sanjay is not among them.

His love for the cricketers from Mumbai, his comments on Ravindra Jadeja when he called him a bits and pieces cricketer and was then humiliated publicly all taught him nothing.

He went on to take a jibe at the best cricket commentator in the world, “Harsha Bhogle”, saying that he needs to ask the players everything as he has not played any cricket.

All these comments made in bad faith bring a lot of trolls to Mr. Manjrekar and no one knows when he will learn from it.

4) Anushka Sharma.

Being a high prolific actress and the wife of the world’s best cricketers is bound to attract a lot of people to comment on everything you do.

Anushka Sharma has been targeted by many on the accounts of influencing team selection and breaking the BCCI policies but none have been proven right.

It takes a strong character to stand up to these trolls and how graciously Anushka Sharma handles her troll is in itself a great example.

5) Rahul Gandhi.

Referred by many as Pappu, Rahul Gandhi, one of the major political leaders of congress party, is a daily material for trolls.

Sometimes because of his own comments and sometimes because of the under achievements of his party, Rahul Gandhi is trolled very badly.

Being a political leader at such a high position is not a very easy job, it has a lot of pressure and crumbling under this pressure is bound to get the attention of trolls.

9 Ways To Handle Internet Trolls Effectively

1:22 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Internet, a place that is filled with all kinds of people, all having different opinions and views about almost everything. It is a place that has the power to blast you to an overnight fame or to bring you down just like that.

While on the internet, you are bound to face a lot of criticism and trolls. Anything you share and upload will gather views depending on your followers.

A lot of this affects one mentally, when he/she receives troll comments from a random person on the internet. It has a stupid power to somehow affect whole of your mood and a lot more things going on in your life.

Here is a list of things that will help you in handling your trolls with a much better attitude:

1) Ignore them.

This is a very basic step. Most of the trolls are useless. All they are is like useless noise which has no meaningful message to understand. It is best to ignore them.

2) Take constructive criticism.

Although most of the trolls are useless but if you are being targeted over a specific issue a number of times then you may try and reflect back on it a bit.

Who knows, it might be a blessing in disguise and you get a chance to improve yourself.

3) Use moderating tools.

Various moderating tools are available on each platform to filter out and ban such trolls. The tools can detect the spam comments and fake accounts and thus they can be banned from doing any more activity on your account.

4) Every once in a while, reply.

Yes, sometimes it becomes necessary to reply. But keep in mind that your reply should be a dignified one backed by proper facts and figures.

It keeps some trolls away as they fear being insulted on a public platform.

5) Build a friendly community.

Have faith in your community. Make your timeline a space which has good and interested users only. The organic users help a lot as sometimes they handle these trolls themselves.

Make your audience a part of your family.

6) Try a humorous reply.

Yup, humor is a much underrated aspect while replying. If you take a troll light-heartedly and reply to them with a witty and humorous reply, not only you get appreciation from your audience but also sometimes from that troll.

7) Discuss it with someone you trust.

If you really think that a troll is getting too much into your head, talk to someone who you trust and who knows you.

This really helps to reinstall in you that lost believe in yourself.

8) Take some time off the internet.

If it gets too toxic out there, there is no shame in logging off and spending some quality time in the real world with the people you love.

You should not allow these trolls to affect you mentally.

9) Analyze the reasons.

Analyze who really are these trolls and why they are targeting you. Most of the times the answer would be because they don’t have anything better to do but sometimes you might discover a real reason.

5 Cricket Rules That Are Unknown To Most People

5:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Cricket is a game that has been followed by billions of people around the globe. It is a spectacle that every fan loves to enjoy.

Cricket teaches us a lot

A fact to validate the global popularity of the game is that the recent world cup final was one of the most viewed sporting events all over the world.

With so many fans, a proper enjoying experience can only be obtained if each and every rule of the game is known to the watchers. While it is a simple game to understand, and basic rules are clear to many, still there are things that most of the fans don’t know.

So here is a list of the cricket rules that are unknown to most people.

1) The 3 minute rule.

A rule that is unknown even to the most hardcore cricket fans is this 3 minute rule. According to this a batsmen is given a total time of 180 seconds to enter the field after the fall of a wicket.

In case the batsman is late, the umpire has the right to declare him retired hurt and call the next batsman in.
Because of this rule only, you see the next batsmen padded up so that he can quickly enter the field and the game is not paused for a long duration of time.

2) The game can be played without the bails.

Every set of a wicket in cricket has 3 stumps and 2 bails. A batsman is given out if the ball or the batsman hit the stumps and bails are dislodged.

But there have been some rare instances in cricket where the playing conditions did not allow for the bails to be placed on the stumps. Conditions like too much wind.

In those instances the umpires can allow the game to be continued without the bails.

3) Appealing is necessary.

Although it rarely happens that the bowlers and fielders don’t appeal but when it does the umpire cannot give the batsman out.

Yes, if the team has not appealed and the umpire feels that the batsman is out, he cannot give the batsman out according to the rules.

Therefore, appealing is necessary.

4) The dimensions of a cricket field.

Cricket is one of those rare games where the size of the boundaries is not set. Different grounds in different countries have different ground dimensions.

But one thing cricket is pretty disciplined about are the dimensions of the ball, the distance between the front and back crease and the pitch size.

These have been the same since the game’s origin and the rule remains.

5) Hitting the ball twice.

If a batsman hits the ball twice then he can be given out. Although this happens rarely in international cricket but it is a rule for the sake of the game.

There have been very few incidents of such happening and it is very tough to do such an act intentionally as sometimes it just happens without conscious.

These were some of the rules that people don’t know because they are rarely used in our game.

10 Things Every Man Expects From His Partner

5:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Relationships are an important aspect of one’s life. They knowingly or unknowingly play a part in shaping your future. If you have got a good life partner, your life will be a bit more sorted and a whole lot beautiful.

Representational Image

From the men’s point of view relationships hold a very different relevance. They find themselves with someone who constantly improves them, listens to them; they are able to share things with them that they usually don’t share with anyone else.

Men, just like women carry specific expectations from their life partner, here are some of them.

Representational Image

1) To accept that they can sometimes be shabby.

Men, unlike women don’t care much about how they carry themselves. They just get out of the bed, wear anything that gets caught in their hand and walk out.

That’s how men operate most of the time and they want their partner to understand their casual approach to fashion and styling.

2) To understand that they can’t express it.

Men are far less evolved than women when it comes to expressing feelings. They never know how to say the right thing at the right moment.

They wish their partner can understand this, that although they do not express it well but they love them the most.

3) To give them the space to enjoy with other friends.

Men expect this, although they love to show you off to their friends but sometimes they want that they can be alone with their friends.

They want freedom from their partner, just to chill out the old ways.

4) To accept their craziness when it comes to their favorite sports.

Men are too much passionate about sports. Whether cricket or football or any other game they will watch whenever it is aired.

Men expect their partners to accept this crazy passionate side of theirs.

5) To make them feel loved constantly.

Men in general lack self belief when it comes to love. They always think that their partners deserve better than them.

Thus, they expect constant reassurance from their partner.

6) To not judge them from the conversations they have with their friends.

Men usually talk stupid things while talking with other men. That’s kind of a ritual, a way their communication usually flows.

They don’t always themselves like what they discuss, but they have to be a part of that. They expect not to be judged on the basis of such conversations.

7) To listen to their sorrows.

Men are mostly good at not showing how much some things hurt them but they are completely vulnerable when they fall in love.

They want to tell their partner about that dream which they could not follow, about how bad things are at home, about how rough it has been. They want their partners to listen to their sorrows as they are too manly to tell it to someone else.

8) To share your deepest secrets with them.

Women are a lot more conservative when it comes to sharing things. Men love it when they share something with them that is very close to their heart.

Something that only they know, may be a childhood story or something from their past which they have been hiding for a long time.

9) To develop an interest in something they love.

This is never a necessity. This is one of those things that you do when you want to go that extra mile. Men really feel special when you show even a little interest in the things that they love.

It makes them feel special.

10) To forgive them and stay with them.

Yes, men do so many mistakes. They always do something wrong when almost everything is going perfect. They get angry at stupid things, they are easily frustrated and sometimes they take it out on their partners, which is indeed very wrong.

And they understand that and are sorry for that and they want their partner to forgive them for being so stupid and just stay with them, always.

5 Books On Cricketers Everyone Should Read

5:07 AM pervez akhtar 0 Comments

Cricket is a very popular game and because of the game’s huge popularity it is bound to deliver role models. Role models to which people look up to, whom they follow and worship, whom they read.

A lot has been written on and by the cricketers which gives huge insight into their life and majorly about the kind of person they were.

So here is a list of books every cricket fanatic must read about cricketers:

1) The Dhoni Touch by Bharat Sundaresan.

The caption of the book reads, “Unraveling the enigma that is Mahendra Singh Dhoni” and it follows up aptly with what’s written inside.

The book depicts the journey of MS Dhoni, it takes us back to places from where India’s most successful captain began his journey.

It shows the highs and lows of his career and also how much fun and quirkiness hides behind that serious face. If you are a Dhoni fan, you cannot miss to read this book. It is a perfect book.

2) Playing it my way by Sachin Tendulkar.

Considered by everyone the GOD of cricket, the most complete batsman in cricketing history, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar released his book in 2014.

The book describes everything, almost everything that you need to know about the little master, from his childhood days, to playing the most ferocious fast bowlers, to falling in love and finally retiring.

It is like the most successful sports career written on a bunch of pages. The book is a must read for everyone whether a cricket fan or not.

3) Ponting: At the close of play by Ricky Ponting.

Ricky Ponting is considered by many the best captain in the world and is statistically backed by the numbers. The ace Aussie is till date the leading run scoring batsman even after 8 years of retirement.

The book tells about the highs and lows of Ponting’s career, about the sports culture in Australia and the challenges he faced while captaining the best squad of all time.

This is a book, not only for cricket lovers but also for those who want to read on how a leader thinks.

4) Coming back to me by Marcus Trescothick.

Marcus Trescothick‘s career was a fascinating one. He started as a prodigy becoming the fastest to 5,000 runs for England in test cricket. Everyone believed that he will have a long career.

But Marcus took early retirement from cricket and at the time no one knew the reason. He just took a break and never returned.

In his book, he has mentioned about the emotional and mental stresses that sports brings with it and how everyone ignores these aspects.

This is a very important book.

5) Out of my comfort zone by Steve Waugh.

Steve Waugh was a ferocious cricketer and an amazing leader. He captained Australian team to great heights. In his book “Out of my comfort zone”, Waugh talks about life beyond cricket.

He reveals incidents about his life that made him what he is today.

The stories told in the book are excellent and very soothing.

5) Find out what type of people interest you.

Not necessarily a life partner, but you should discover what kind of people you like being around with. In the company of what kind of people you find an improved version of yourself.

Don’t let the fear of embarrassment miss you out on talking to new people.

6) Keep your body in shape.

This one is very important. For you to be productive after a certain age, your body needs to respond better. At a young age, when you have a whole lot of energy, exercise daily and keep your body in shape.

7) Build connections.

Talk to the people who are pursuing the same career as you want to, listen to those who are at the pinnacle of what you want to achieve. Building connections helps you in getting the right guidance and deserved opportunities.

8) Develop a creative skill.

In a very busy world that is always rushing towards perfection, find for yourself a hobby that will be your escape from this race.

Learn a creative skill or maintain a diary, do anything that soothes your soul.

9) Do something weird.

As you grow old, you won’t get much time and insanity to do it but as the age is by your side do something that does not make sense.

Plan something with your friends, cousins that will throw of everyone. Do something worth remembering 25 years later.

10) Let go.

As you will grow, you will realize people get busy with their life, learn to let them go. They have their own future ahead of them, same as you.

Understand that not everyone stays. Value those who do but don’t disrespect the one who doesn’t.
